There are so many things a person can do each day to improve the day of someone else. Simple things like giving up your parking spot to someone else or helping your neighbor carry in groceries. Everywhere you look you can always find someone in need. I love to help people. That’s one of the reasons that I love working for All My Sons Moving & Storage. Here at All My Sons, I am dedicated to helping my customers and making sure that everyone I move gets a good, quality move. It seems that everywhere I turn there is someone that needs my help. The most recent was a situation that goes right along with the holiday spirit. I was taking the trash out and I noticed my neighbor looked very upset. Usually I don’t like to meddle in other peoples’ business but she just looked so upset, I had to ask. My neighbor told me that she was just recently laid off due to the economy and now she didn’t have enough money to get her son anything for Christmas. She barely had enough money to pay her bills and she told me that she felt like she was letting her son down. He is only nine years old and still believes in Santa so she was so upset that she wasn’t going to have anything for him to unwrap on Christmas morning. It was around 8:30pm on Christmas Eve and I was so touched by what had happened to her that I went right then to the local dollar store and got a trunk full of toys. When I got back home I wrapped them all and hid them in my bedroom. I told my neighbor, Cindy, that I needed her help for a second and I asked her if she could run up to the store and get a gallon of milk for me. I told her that, since her son was already asleep, I would sit in her apartment and make sure he was ok. Cindy left and I ran and got the presents. By the time Cindy got back with the milk I had everything all set up. She came in and almost dropped the gallon of milk. I knew she would be surprised but I wasn’t expecting her reaction. She flung her arms around me and cried. She thanked me over and over again before I could get her to calm down. I told Cindy that there was no reason to thank me because the gifts were from Santa. Cindy picked up one of the presents and noticed that all tags said “From Santa.” I wasn’t there in the morning when Cindy’s son Jacob got up but I knew it was a good morning for him. Truth be told, I think that I got the best present of all because I got to be a part of their happiness. I think that the feeling I got from helping them was far better than any store bought present. If everyone could give a little back to the world, just imagine how wonderful life would be. Merry Christmas and Happy holidays, from my family to yours!
